Tim R Teeter
Director of Swim Team /Head Coach
Tim will begin his third season as the Director and Head Coach of
Set Swim Team. He has spent nearly 20 years as a coach and
has worked with athletes of all levels. During his first two
years at SET his athletes broke over 120 club records and the club
tripled in number of members.
Prior to coming to Set Swim Team, Tim served as the head coach for
Ames Cyclone Aquatics Club where he lead ACAC to its first ever ISI
State Championship. During his time at ACAC he developed one
of the premier swim clubs in the upper Midwest.
Tim’s coaching career has included coaching swim clubs in
Northern California, high school in Iowa, and colleges in both
Northern California and Iowa. His early career took him to
the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. During
his time at UOP Teeter coached 12 NCAA All-Americans, who earned 31
All-American awards. He has coached international athletes
that have won numerous national titles in their home countries.
One of Tim’s athletes, Ziada Jardine, made the
semifinals at the 2004 FINA World Short Course
As an athlete, Tim swam for Iowa State University, where he earned
a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. He was a four
year letterwinner for the Cyclones, earned Academic All-Big Eight
honors as a swimmer and was a member of the Big 8 Champion Team in
1995. After Iowa State, Teeter continued his education at
Creighton University School of Law. At Creighton Tim received
Tim also serves as the Head Coach of the El Toro High School Swim
Team. He is married to Jessica and they have two children,
Nyte and Daley.
Associate Head Coach
JC comes to SET Swim Team from JCA Swim Team in Los Angeles. JC has been involved in swimming for many years. He was a high school All-American and a Junior National qualifier. He spent a few years in the U.S. Army.
JC currently is training for triathlons with the goal of becoming an ironman finisher. He has a wide variety of experiences as a coach. Including working for a learn to swim program all the way to training sectional level qualifiers. Additionally, he has also worked with deaf athletes and is currently learning sign language.
JC primarily works with Bronze 2 and Silver 2, but helps with all groups when necessary. His experience and excitement are very positive attributes that JC brings to the SET Swim Team.
Head Age Group Coach
Jessica is returning to the pool deck after coaching in 2014 for Newport Beach Aquatics. At Newport, she assisted swimmers from the ages of 6-14 years old. She began swimming recreationally at the age of 7, and continued club swimming through high school for Newport Beach Aquatics and SoCal Aquatics. In addition to swimming, Jessica enjoys CrossFit and running. Currently, she is attending Saddleback Community College and is passionate about studying Nursing.
Jessica focused on Butterfly and sprint Freestyle during her career. At El Toro High School, she was part of the CIF team’s of 2014-2016. She lettered and received the Golden Torch Award (maintaining above a 3.5 GPA) for three consecutive years. Jessica recently graduated with the class of 2016.
Jessica is eager to begin coaching and is excited to be apart of the SET family!
Assistant Coach - Gold Group
Using swimming as a prime motivator and connector, Barrett has
his love of water sports into an exciting aquatic career spanning
decades. From being an experienced ocean lifeguard (California
Los Angeles County Fire Dept.), to seasoned marketing executive
(Quiksilver), to well traveled event producer (Rainbow Sandals
Battle of the
Paddle) and contest director (International Surfing Association).
returning to coaching, Barrett looks forward to helping motivated
become their best.
Barrett’s prior coaching experience includes working with
swimmers at all
levels from beginner to Olympians. Past coaching positions include:
Coach U.C. Davis Men’s Swimming, Head Swim Coach Loyola H.S.,
Swim Coach Beverly Hills H.S., Masters Swimming Coach Southern
Aquatics (SCAQ), Age-Group Coach Team Santa Monica (TSM) and
Graduate Assistant Coach U.C.L.A. Men’s Swimming.
As an accomplished swimmer, Barrett was a four-year Letterman at
U.C.L.A. Men’s Swimming, Jr. Nationals qualifier, earned
several National Age-Group rankings and Junior Olympic
championships. As an avid ocean sports competitor, Barrett won five
(5) United States Lifesaving National Championships, was a member
of United States teams to New Zealand and Australia and a former
World Bodysurfing Champion (1993).
Barrett earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science
from U.C.L.A. He is married to Julia and has two children, daughter
Kaelin and son Cruz (who is a member of SET age-group team).
Kimberly Ann Parkan
Assistant Coach - Bronze 2
Kim recently joined the SET coaching staff. She
was a competitive swimmer while growing up in Lake Forest. She swam
and played water polo at El Toro High school and played club water
polo at Chico State in college. Kim earned her master's and
doctorate degrees at University of the Pacific in Physical Therapy.
She works as a Physical Therapist with all ages and abilities of
people. She enjoys being with her Family, swimming with the SET
masters team, reading and being outdoors. Her two children,
Chase and Lilly both swim for SET. She is excited to join the SET
family to help swimmers with great technique and develop a love for
the sport of swimming.
